Orion Eyes. In Memoriam.

Well, it is a sad day in the Eige household. As you probably don't know, the eige is a fish lover, and has a little collection of her own. One of my oldest, friendliest fishies past away this morning. Her name was Orion (we originally thought she was male, lol), and she was a whimsical twin tail oranda. Freaking beautiful fish. Unfortunately, I only have one picture of my lil fish from when we first got her about 2 years ago.

A little silly to do a memorial look for your late pet goldfish? Maybe. Do I care? Not a bit.

I based the colors off of my Orion directly. She had a really pale yellow and white belly, which faded into bright orange and gold on her sides. She had a touch of true deep orange on her as well. :)

I used Madd Style's Dr. Rockso and Princess Buttahcup on the inner half of my eye, blended into Boognish in the outer v. I added a little bit of Kick Ass on the outer corner too, to deepen the orange color.

I also added pure orange glitter on the lower lash line to make my eyes flash like my lil fishie did. My base was NYX's pearl base Cream Cheese. I used this to give my look the shimmer and texture I was looking for.

well, I went out today and got myself a new little goldfish. Same breed, because I adore the way they look swimming next to my other fish... like my big muscular koi. What should I name him? I really like celestial names... or something bad ass. What is your suggestion?

Beth Br00tality's "Show Me Your Green" Contest Entry!

Hey guys! This is my entry for Beth Br00tality's "Show Me Your Green" contest!
for additional information visit Beth's video here: http://www.youtube.com/user/bethbr00tality#p/u/0/JTrCk6u7bzE

My inspiration was St. Patrick's day... the way eige would do it. I added the stud on my eye and nails to make it more glam rock, the way I like it! I know you can't exactly see it in the picture, but I added TONS of silver glitter around my eye/temple and on my nails to represent the snow that still lingers in the cold months of March here in Chicagoland. ^.^

Eyes
I applied Madd Style Cosmetics (MSC) Dr. Rockso in the duct, and blended into Ecto Cooler on the inside corner of the eye, reaching to the middle of the lid. I then blended out Frankenstein into the outer v of my eye. Trashed was applied to the orbital bone, blending into Dr. Rockso as a highlight!

Lips:
Frankenstein as a gloss, with an unnamed, unkown glittery lime in the middle of each lip, blended out.

To tie in with the rest of the look, I added a bunch of silver glitter, as well as a stud on my thumb nail. :)

Nails: a green Nicole polish, and Zoya's raven with a little bit of Nicole's silver glitter polish.

Here is my official entry! Watch for a few extra pictures, and some awesome tunes. :)

Thanks so much for viewing guys!! If you ever see a look that you would like to see a tutorial of, PLEASE let me know!

What do you guys think? I really liked the lips this time around, to be honest! Though green isnt usually my nail color - I am in lust with this look on my fingers! I doubt I will win this one, there are amazing entries!

My Lil Haul

So, its pretty uneventful, but here is my lil bitty tax return haul. :)
'
'

SO. we have (from left to right) Revlon's Nude Attitude lipstick, 2 Nicole nail polishes and 1 China Glaze nail polish, oil-free makeup remover pads, and last but not least: my Madd Style Cosmetics Pay It Forward bag! The PIF bags inculded 2 pigments of your choice, 2 pigments of MSC choice, a never before seen color, a sample of lip scrub, and a random lip bomb (I got Jager).

The two pigments I chose were Dirty Beats and Princess Buttahcup. I need some nudes, and I really need some new bright yellows. The two that MSC chose were Dr. Frankenfurter from the RHPS collection and Dr. Finklestein from the NBC collection. The never before seen pigment is Lust for a Life, which I will talk about in another post!

Rainbow Eyes - Photo Tutorial

Hola guys! Today we have a really colorful rainbow look tutorial in store for you! I am still working on my video recording situation, but i think i finally will have videos up for you soon! I'm just getting over heavy metal poisoning, so bare with me!

DIFFICULTY: 3/5

What you will need:

You will need at least one of each of the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) and a highlighting color. I used Dazzle Dust for fun. :)

Madd Style Cosmetic's Outlaw Star: Any red or pink will work for this. I chose a dark pink purely because I like the way it looks. :)

Madd Style Cosmetic's Boognish: any bright orange will do, but I must say, Boognish is my favorite!

Yellow Pigment: With that being said, I would use any bright yellow! Shimmers work better than mattes for this look!

Green Pigment: Any shimmery green will work! Madd Style's Frankenstein might work! Virus Insanity has a few colors that would work perfectly too!

Madd Style Aja from the Jem Collection: A bright primary blue!

Virus Insanity Eyeshadow Flash: any good covering primary purple will work!

Madd Style's Xray Spex: a highlighter color of your choice! xray spex is my go to!

For this look, I used a small eyeshadow brush, and a highlighting brush.

A white base & primer. I used NYX's Jumbo Pencil in Milk, and Urban Decay's Primer Potion (Original). The primer will make sure your shadows wont fade and will stay in place, while the base will make your colors POP!

Your favorite liquid and pencil eyeliners, and your favorite mascara!   I used Maybelline's Line Express pencil in Ebony Black, Revlon's Colorstay liquid liner in Blackest Black, and Rimmel's Glam Eyes mascara.

Start off with a clean face :) Also make sure to wash your hands, as with any activity that involves your hands near your face. :)

Prime your lids! I used Urban Decay's Primer Potion. Make sure you give your primer a good 5- 10 minutes to dry before applying your base.

With your NYX Milk, "draw" on your base, and blend out with your finger. :)

Make sure that your base isnt on too heavily: this may cause creasing. If you are uncomfortable using your finger, a brush would suffice.

Using your small shadow brush, apply the yellow to the inner part of your lid and duct. remember to pat on your shadow as opposed to dragging it on: this will help to avoid fall out.

Apply your green shad next to the yellow, in a line. blend the edges into the yellow, making sure that there isnt a hard line between colors.

Apply your blue next, in the same lined fashion.

Next, blend your blue into the green, and pull the color out the the outer v of your eye. I pulled the color up to my orbital bone.

Apply the purple to the very outer corner, and on your orbital bone: softly blending it with the blue pigment.

Blend the purple up along your orbital bone, midway across your eye. Make sure to blend, blend, and blend!

Here's the shape of the purple that we are going for. :)

Add the orange under your lower lashline, blending it in with the yellow pigment on your duct. Bring this color about halfway across your lower lashline.

Next, take your pink or red and blend it from the orange back into the purple. Pink works well here because it will blend nicely with the orange, but also blends nicely into the purple.

Apply your highlight color with your highlighting brush. this should make the top of your colors blend out more, and soften any edges that still remain. Add a litte Dazzle Dust if you want as well, it will make you feel like a disco ball.

Line your upper lid with liquid eyeliner. If you arent comfortable using liquid, go ahead and use your pencil. I added a little wing on the outer corner.

I then added my black pencil liner to my waterline. :)

Apply your mascara! Almost done! Finish off with a cute gloss, and youre on your way!!

What did you think of this tutorial? Hopefully I will have my video capabilities working soon! Hoping to have my rainbow lip tutorial up soon as well!

How Many Makeup Addicts Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb?

Well. a few days ago, I was faced with a problem. My god mirror burnt out.

As a note, the light didn't die a natural death. I surged the outlet, and blew the bulb out. So, god mirror still stands at god status, but it apparently can't take an alarm clock, an ihome, a mirror, a hair straightener, and a camera charger all plugged into one outlet without a surge protector... oops. >.<'

Anyways, I know that many of you out there have illuminated mirrors, and I figured I would share my experience with you, just in case you have to replace the bulb. My first though was "DAMMIT. Now I have to buy a new mirror." Well, you don't. To fix your problems, you need the following.

- pocket screw driver. make sure that if your mirror has phillips screws, to have a phillips head screwdriver.
- small bowl, paper plate, what-have-you. just something to hold the screws.
- replacement bulbs.*

OK. Lets do this.

UNPLUG YOUR DARN MIRROR.
Locate the screws holding the illuminated mirror together. On my mirror, they are found on either side of the mirror. As you can see, the mirror is divided into two parts; a thicker side and a thinner side. The actual bulb is fastened on the thicker side. Make note of which side is which for easy access of the bulb.

If your mirror can rotate, situate the mirror HORIZONTALLY with the thinner side UP, and the thicker side DOWN. This will give you ease of access to the bulb. :)

Using your screwdriver, remove the screws from both sides of your mirror.

These screws are teeny. If you are like me and drop/lose things easily, I would suggest putting them in a bowl or on a plate.

Once all screws are taken out, lift the "top" of the mirror up. This might take a little elbow grease. ;)

And there you have the burnt out little sucker staring you in the face, along with a warning label or two.

Take out the old bulb.

*You can buy the replacement bulbs off of beauty websites and in stores such as bed bath and beyond for $6ish a bulb. Prices may vary depending on what site/store you go to. :)

HERE IS A MONEY SAVING TRICK:
upon further research, I found out that these bulbs are... dun dun dun.... the same bulbs found in the back of your microwave. These are much cheaper, generally. Since things have so many options these days, I would take a trip to the store, burnt out bulb in hand, and compare it to the new bulbs in the hardware isle. I couldnt find any microwave bulbs that were shaped the same and had the same threading width, but i did find these, which would work as a cheap alternative as well.

They were the same wattage, and same threading. I paid about $3 for 2 bulbs. This picture makes them look giant. they are actually just a little bigger than a night light bulb. Make sure to stay within the suggested wattage. I know that it would be better to have the same type (shape) of bulb, but I am still on the hunt.

Change out the bulb. :)

Ta Dah!

Reassemble your mirror, being sure to put back all the screws.

KEEP the original bulb for reference.

And eige said, let there be light. :)
